Parent Advisory Board Representatives

Position Descriptions
President – The President shall act as representative of the McCarthy PTO. The President shall preside over all meetings and act as a liaison between the parents and the staff of the school. The President will be kept fully informed of and invited to any and all committee meetings that concern the PTO. The President shall serve over-lapping two (2) year terms with the Vice President.
Vice President – The Vice President shall assist the President with tasks and fill in when the President is unavailable.
Secretary – The Secretary shall keep minutes of all Board and General meetings as well as a record of all votes. It is the responsibility of the Secretary to review the minutes from previous meetings at the beginning of each Board and General meeting. The Secretary shall also be responsible for correspondence for the PTO as well as submitting any publications for Cable TV and newspapers. The Secretary will also coordinate the school newsletter and send any cards, flowers, etc. from the PTO.
Treasurer – The Treasurer shall receive all monies and receipts, pays all bills approved for payment, and keep financial records. A Treasurer’s report shall be given at every meeting.
Cultural Events Chairperson - The Cultural Events Coordinator shall be responsible for seeking out the best possible cultural events for the school that are deemed educationally sound by the faculty and administrators according to the Massachusetts Department of Education Curriculum Frameworks of the most recent Education Reform Act.
Parent Volunteer Liaison – The Parent Volunteer Liaison shall be responsible for overseeing room parents, coordinating library and technology volunteers as well as classroom volunteers for school events. They shall meet monthly or as needed with the Principal to review upcoming school events.
Fund Raising Coordinator – The Fund Raising Coordinator shall be responsible for seeking out and coordinating all fund-raising programs (i.e. gift wrap, candy sales, and any program that generates monies for the use of the PTO). He/she may form a committee to help coordinate these events.
Social Events Coordinator – The Social Events Coordinator shall be responsible for coordinating all social events that may generate funds but are primarily for the social atmosphere of the school (i.e. holiday events, fairs or shows). He/she may form a committee to help coordinate these events.
Hospitality Chairperson – The Hospitality Chairperson shall be responsible for all bake sales, luncheons, etc. He/she may form a committee to help coordinate these events.
